Getting Crafty

I am finally becoming the crafty blogger I knew I could be! I am excited to be doing this now! I just finished crocheting the cutest dinosaur for my nephew, Preston. It's a t-rex. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of it before I sent it in the mail so I will have to have my sister email one to me so I can post it. 

For now I can show you all some of the things I have done before I go into the exciting thing I am working on at the moment.

 This is a pillow that is supposed to be Sherlock Holmes. The pillow is made from washcloths sewn together, embroidery floss hair, eyebrows nose and mouth. Oh and his eyes are also embroidery floss; I crocheted the eyes and the little scarf out of embroidery floss, which took quite a bit of time but was a lot of fun. My good friend Cailin is now enjoying him as she is the Sherlock to my Watson.





The bag to the right has not yet been finished, but I love it even though it still has some strings to hide away. This Doctor Who bag says, "Doctor can you sonic me" I was a little disappointed that the pattern did not have a question mark, but in the future I will be able to fix things like that by added them myself. (Also, no comma. That's just hard to get past). Other than the grammatical errors, the bag is super cute. This is meant as a birthday present to the aforementioned, Cailin.
I plan to line this bag with some fabric I bought from spoonflower.com that has little tardises all over it.

 Onto Pinhead Oswald, Esquire, the octopus. I find him rather adorable as well, even though his legs are a little lopsided. Every time I try something new I have to redo something. Like this octopus. I had to redo his head and attach the legs several different times. Seeing as he was my first amigurumi project, I find him a very big accomplishment! Again, a gift for my friend, Cailin. I need to start making things for other people. But she just likes a lot of the things I like to make. It's hard to want to make anything but nerdy stuff sometimes!

 This is the second beanie I ever made (The first one was rather horrid so I will not show it to anyone). I love the shelling at the bottom. It's my favorite and the yarn was so soft.

 I learned how to make this just by looking up roses on the internet. I have long since lost this flower, but they are not that hard to make. I make flowers more than anything else. They are so easy to take on the go and don't take very long to complete.

 Speaking of flowers... Here are some incomplete ones that I made when I first discovered how to do this. I think this is before I made my own pattern, making the petals a little taller than I could find on the internet.

 My very first batch of flower clips. They were so fun to make and I remember being SO very excited about learning how to do this.I only started in January of this year. I believe I have come a long way. (See pinhead Oswald, Esquire above).

 Ah, and here are some flower clips after I discovered I could layer my flowers by making larger ones. This was a great discovery to me. The ones that are layered are so much prettier. The little purple one there was made for my sister's daughter, but I think I may have accidentally sold it.

And when Halloween finally comes around, I will have pumpkin earrings, pumpkin hair clips  headbands and even pumpkin rings. Everything pumpkin. (And possibly spider-webbed).

Right now, I am working on my very first amigurumi (crochet stuffed animal) designed by me. I've decided that my niece, Summer, is going to like platypuses (I looked it up, that really is the plural for that word), because my mother, whose birthday is the day after Summer's, loves them and I think they should be twins. So far I've completed the body and I've gotten about a quarter of the way through the platypus's head. I'm thinking this will be complete in plenty of time. Summer's birthday isn't until July. I'm so excited for my niece to turn one, mostly so I can give her this platypus that, I hope, will be the cutest thing ever.
